In-Depth Profile

Alethea is a Chartered Educational and Child Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society and Singapore Psychological Society. She completed her doctoral training in Educational and Child Psychology at University College London, in receipt of the MOE Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship. She was previously awarded the MOE Overseas Teaching Scholarship and read Psychology and Mathematics at The University of Melbourne, graduating with First-class Honours in 2008. Thereafter, she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Education at the National Institute of Education (NIE).

Alethea started her career in the Ministry of Education and spent the last fifteen years involved with a range of work to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Currently, besides applying psychology as a private practitioner to support children, young people and their families, she is also an Associate Faculty in the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), teaching psychology undergraduates in the School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences.

All work and no play makes Alethea a dull person so elsewhere in her life, she enjoys specialty coffee, playing the piano, and lying on a couch with a good book… though not all at once!

Note: The use of the title “Dr” indicates that the individual holds a doctoral degree in psychology, and is not a medical doctor.
