
Dr Liow Peh Hsiang
Consultant Psychiatrist
With over 30 years of experience in Singapore’s public healthcare system, Dr Liow has held key roles at the Institute of Mental Health, Alexandra Hospital, and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Her clinical expertise lies in general and liaison psychiatry, with a special focus on eating disorders.
Dr Liow has worked extensively in multidisciplinary teams and brings a deep commitment to collaborative care. She works in close partnership with the Beacon Psychology team to support children, youth, and families—especially when psychiatric care is a helpful part of their healing and growth.
While she is based at her own clinic, Dr Liow is a trusted partner and our affiliated psychiatrist, offering compassionate, integrated support alongside our psychologists and therapists.

With over 30 years of experience in Singapore’s public healthcare system, Dr Liow Pei Hsiang partners closely with the Beacon Psychology team. Her psychiatry journey began at the Institute of Mental Health, where she completed specialist training and served as a registrar. In 2003, she became the consultant and pioneer psychiatrist at Alexandra Hospital, heading psychiatry services and focusing on general psychiatry, liaison psychiatry, and eating disorders—a key area of her interest.
From 2010 to 2022, Dr Liow worked at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where she led Case Management and collaborated closely with a multidisciplinary team comprising case managers, social workers, psychologists, and community partners. Throughout her public service career, she held academic appointments including Lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic, Clinical Teacher at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. She also served as a reviewer for the Singapore Medical Journal.
While she is based at her own clinic, Dr Liow is a trusted partner and our affiliated psychiatrist, offering compassionate, integrated support alongside our psychologists and therapists. She is especially interested in supporting the educational and emotional needs of students with mental health challenges and works closely with educational psychologists to provide holistic care.
Beyond clinical work, Dr Liow contributes actively to the community. Since 2016, she has served on the Panel of Advisors to the Family Justice Court, participating in hearings alongside the Ministry of Social and Family Development and Youth Court. She was a clinical advisor to TOUCH Community Services’ Youth Mental Wellness Programme and now advises Focus on the Family. In recognition of her dedication, Dr Liow has received the National Day Award Long Service Medal and the MSF Volunteers and Partners Long Service Award.
